Experts from the Infosvyaz Foundation took part in the Women 20 (W20) Summit held in Johannesburg from October 12 to 14, 2025. The Summit brought together official delegations from more than 20 countries, including G20 members and partner states from Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas, to develop policy recommendations on advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment.
The Infosvyaz Foundation was represented in the official Russian delegation by its Director, Alena Pyoryshkina, and Deputy Director, Irina Kostetskaya.
The Women20 Summit serves as a key engagement platform within the G20 process, providing recommendations to world leaders on addressing pressing social and economic challenges. The 2025 Summit concluded a nine-month consultation process, during which experts from participating countries worked across six thematic working groups to develop a set of policy proposals reflected in the final communiqué.
Key priorities outlined in the communiqué include securing sustainable financing to advance gender equality in line with the Beijing Platform for Action and the UN Sustainable Development Goal 5, improving the collection and use of disaggregated data to inform inclusive policymaking, and establishing clear accountability frameworks to support the implementation of shared gender equality standards.
Health-related issues featured prominently in the discussions. Participants emphasized the importance of building inclusive healthcare systems that respond to the specific medical and social needs of women and girls, ensuring universal access to sexual and reproductive health services, and protecting reproductive rights. Additional priorities included strengthening mental health services and integrating mental health into universal health coverage, as well as leveraging innovative technologies and promoting a clean and healthy environment.
Established in 2015, Women 20 is the official G20 engagement group dedicated to promoting gender equality and advancing women’s economic empowerment. Outcomes of the Johannesburg Summit will inform discussions at the upcoming G20 Leaders' Summit.
