Press Conference on the Outcomes of the BRICS Civil Forum Held in Moscow

On 4 July, a press conference dedicated to the outcomes of the BRICS Civil Forum was held in Moscow at the Rossiya Segodnya International Media Group. Alena Pyoryshkina, Director of the AIDS Infoshare Foundation, took part in the event as Co-Chair of the Forum.

The BRICS Civil Forum took place on 3−4 July in Moscow as part of the official calendar of Russia’s BRICS Chairmanship. Established in 2015 at Russia’s initiative, the Forum serves as a dialogue and presentation platform for civil society representatives from BRICS member states and invited countries.

Held under the theme "Strengthening Multilateralism for Equitable Global Development and Security," the Forum brought together speakers and participants from BRICS countries and the broader Global Majority to discuss shared priorities and principles of a fair and inclusive international order. Key topics included education, sovereign economic and financial development, the ethics of emerging technologies, public health and human well-being, environmental sustainability, future cities, the energy transition, and social justice.

Following the Forum, recommendations developed by civil society representatives will be submitted to BRICS leaders through the Sherpa and Sous-Sherpa channels.

The BRICS Civil Forum is organised by the BRICS Expert Council, the national coordinator for the expert and civil society tracks of BRICS. The Council was established in 2024 at the Higher School of Economics (HSE University) by decision of the Government of the Russian Federation, on the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance of Russia.
