Infosvyaz Foundation Experts Join BRICS People’s Summit in Brazil
Experts from the Infosvyaz Foundation took part in the BRICS People’s Summit held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from December 1 to 4, 2025. The Summit marked the final major event of Brazil’s BRICS presidency and followed the BRICS Civil Forum held earlier in July, ahead of the BRICS Leaders' Summit.
The event brought together representatives of civil society organizations, social movements, and academic experts from BRICS member states, partner countries, and participants in Brazil’s outreach program. Alena Peryshkina, Head of the Infosvyaz Foundation, and Irina Kostetskaya, Deputy Head of the Infosvyaz Foundation, were members of the official delegation and represented the perspectives of Russian civil society during the Summit.
Discussions on the first day focused on the emergence of a new global order and the transformation of global governance. Participants explored the role of civil society in shaping a more multipolar and equitable world, as well as its contribution to long-term sustainable development.
The second day addressed key challenges in global governance and international cooperation. Sessions highlighted the evolving role of BRICS in developing new models of international collaboration and emphasized the importance of inclusive decision-making. Speakers underscored the need to strengthen mechanisms that enable meaningful engagement of civil society organizations in global policy processes.
The third day of the Summit focused on the need for a new global financial architecture to support sustainable development in countries of the Global South. Participants discussed alternative financial mechanisms and approaches to development financing.
On the final day, the BRICS Civil Council convened to review the outcomes of the Summit, assess progress made, and refine priorities based on the proposals and recommendations developed during the discussions.
The BRICS People’s Summit reaffirmed the growing role of civil society in shaping international dialogue and contributing to more inclusive and sustainable global governance.
